Becktech's range of RO pumps covers membrane capacities from 25 litres per day up to 1,000 litres per day and at different voltages. Diaphragm pumps are typically the work horse at the low voltage / low capacity units, while rotary vane pumps will meet the higher specification requirements. The chart below will help you to size the pump you need. Most pumps are available from stock.

A diaphragm pump, with integrated motor.

Small diaphragm pumps meet the low capacity / low voltage end of the RO range.

A rotary vane pump, which requires a driving motor.

Small diaphragm pumps meet the low capacity / low voltage end of the RO range.

About RO

Reverse osmosis is a filtration process that is often used for water.

It works by forcing the water under pressure through a membrane, retaining the impurities on one side and allowing the pure water to pass to the other side.

Not all of the water will pass through the membrane though - typical systems recover between 5% and 20% of the water entering the system. The remainder is discharged as waste water, carrying with it the rejected contaminants.

Membranes are usually rated by thier nominal capacity in gallons per day, but the actual output will vary depending on the input pressure and initial water quality. Our tables on the left are based on an efficiency of 20%, i.e. 1 litre recovered for every 5 litres used.
